Nintendo Wii Review

...th the base station through a sensor bar. game designers love finding new uses for the Wii Remote. In a tennis game, it becomes a racket you swing with your arm. In a driving game, it becomes a steering wheel. The possibilities are endless! The Wii Remote also packs a speaker, rumble feature, and external extension connector for other input devices, like the classic controller or the new Nunchuk with the same sensor technology.

What really makes a game system popular is the games exclusive to the system. The included game Wii Sports is an addictive tech demo that provides for tons of single and multi player fun. Tennis, golf, and baseball work just like one would expect, and when you plug in the Nunchuk the boxing mini game can really help you work up a sweat. For the more traditional hit games Nintendo has upgraded Super Mario Brothers with Super Mario galaxy and the popular Legends of Zelda with the release of Twilight Princess. New games like Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party and Guitar Hero III has revolutionized the way games are played. Nintendo has also come out with the new Wii Zapper to use with games like Crossbow Training and Medal of Honor: Heros 2. Just...more

The New Super Mario Brothers Review

......9/10

In addition to the main quest the game hosts a wealth of mini games ranging from games like where you have to pick him out of a crowd of characters in a small amount of time. Once you spot Mario you touch him you move on to a harder stage. Another great Minnie game on here is one where you have to stop Mario from falling to his death by drawing a trampoline under his path and redirecting him to safety. Theirs loads of cool mini games like this crammed on to the tiny DS cartridge making this game an excellent value for your money.

So if you are thinking of buying this game then stop thinking and start buying because this is an essential game to own if you have a DS. Just like super Mario galaxy for the Nintendo Wii, this game is a pure joy!

The Reason For Wii's Success

...When video games first began, there was this huge explosion of excitement. Everyone was interested and wanted to see "the next best thing." There was no avoiding the presence of this interactive medium. You'd walk into your local restaurant, only to find huge line-ups for that next game of Donkey Kong, or Pac-Man. Video games were the new kids on the block. They were new, fresh, fun and exciting. In the early to mid 1980's, the video game industry was experiencing a crash. Was it the beginning of the end? As it turns out, fortunately that was not the case.

A newcomer in the industry, Nintendo, was responsible for releasing the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System), that essentially single-handily revived the entire industry. Although Nintendo is over a century old, video games in particular were a new venture for them, so there was a lot of skepticism. That skepticism was quickly silenced once they released their first game console, with the globally recognized game mascot, Super Mario Brothers. This one game alone was responsible for putting the industry back on the map. One of the reasons for the game's huge success is not solely catered to the characters cute personality, ...more

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is a Blast! - Review

...Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been out for a few days and after having played it plenty of times, I'd have to say this is the best Super Smash Bros. yet. However, that doesn't mean everything feels improved over previous versions but almost everything is. I'm referring to the characters especially. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way about the characters they like to use. There is always some kind of change to your favorite character going from one installment to the next. It may be better and it may be worse.

One of my favorite characters from previous installments is Donkey Kong. He seems slower now and less effective than before. On the other hand, his charged up power punch can be released sooner like how it was in N64. Mario's water spraying fludd pack also seems useless to me for now until I figure out how to use it better. Bowser is now faster than in Melee and is actually fun to use. I'm sure there are a lot of character changes that you like or dislike, but I think we just have to get used to them again and we'll discover the new advantages that were added to each character.

A gameplay change that affected me in a major way is the lack of the ability to easily drop down from...more
